Also known as Lavender Ameraucanas, these birds are a study in pastels with their pearly blue-grey plumage and light blue eggs. We're obsessed with their muffs and beards, too, and their pea combs and small-to-non-existent wattles help protect against frostbite in cold areas.
They are more cautious than our other birds, alert to predators both real (hawks!) and imagined (ears of corn!). As they mature, their temperament mellows and they are some of the sweetest and snuggliest birds in the flock. They are often in the bottom half of the pecking order but can still hold their own with other breeds, including our outgoing and curious Marans.
We breed for temperament and health first, as well as to the Standard of Perfection. Our Ameraucana roosters are gentle and sweet, and our Ameraucana hens tend to go broody and make excellent, attentive, and protective mothers.
