An Important Announcement for 2023:
Last year took our lives in directions that we did not expect, and as a result we’ve made the difficult (but really, really right) decision to close the breeding programs on our farm. We simply need space to do and pursue other things right now.
We still have two offerings on our website: The Complete Chick Guide and our Pedigree Hatching Bags.
Thank you for all of your support during the past three years of sharing our flock. It’s been an honor to help folks start their first flock or expand an existing one. I’ve loved hearing about every sweet rooster and seeing the stunning egg colors from your hens.
We still have chickens, and will continue sharing eating eggs at our farm stand and in local restaurants.
Since we’re ending our breeding programs, instead of separating our flock into breeding groups this time of year, we’re letting all of our groups free range together into the winter. It’s been highly entertaining to watch them create their own social groups without human interference. As far as the chickens are concerned, this decision is a good move ;)
Thank you again for all of your support the past few years. We are so grateful for the community we found here in the poultry world, and are excited to stay connected, just in a different way.
Lots of love, Maeg & Sarah

Hi! We are Maeg and Sarah of Silver Fox Farm in Greenfield, MA.
We get that you want to know where your food comes from. That's why you're producing so much of it, right? So it's only natural that you want to know where your chickens come from too.
We lovingly hand raise our birds from egg to coop and back again, and breed with temperament, health, and productivity in mind, so that you can enjoy a sweet and vigorous flock. It's an honor to help you produce your own food, experience the joys of chicken keeping, and create the stunning rainbow egg basket of your dreams! Learn more about our farm:

“I consider myself beyond spoiled to have Silver Fox Farm in such close proximity that I can pick up my chickens. We ordered chickens from another large hatchery and 16 chicks from Maeg and Sarah. The difference was downright shocking. The chicks we received from Silver Fox were healthy, vigorous and incredibly carefully packed. The care they take in literally every single aspect of breeding these chickens; from selectively choosing for health and temperament, the actual care they take of the chickens and hatching the chicks, is evident in the end result. My flock is lovely and healthy and all survived whereas we lost nearly 30% of our other chicks. Their commitment to raising and breeding chickens is beyond compare and their patience with me as a first time chicken mom was incredible. The guides and newsletters were all immensely helpful. You simply cannot get better chickens anywhere else.” -Lindsey Baird, Oak & Ash Farm
"My favorite part of our Silver Fox Farm experience was the prompt, cheerful, knowledgeable and clear communication we had with Maeg. It feels like she is not just running a business, she is making friends and bonding over a love of chickens. We feel great getting our chicks from a farm that doesn't automatically dispatch the cockerels, so there is no cruelty disguised in the origins of our flock. Maeg was willing to accommodate our needs with delivery dates, and she made and followed a safe pickup plan in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will definitely come back to Silver Fox Farm to add to our backyard flock again in the future." -Jessica
"Our experience with Silver Fox Farm has been incredible! It was our first time purchasing fertile eggs to hatch with a broody mama hen and Maeg was there to answer all our questions. We were communicated with soon after placing the order and the package arrived very quickly. We could tell it was packed with a lot of love and care – all eggs arrived intact. We placed the eggs with our broody hen and sure enough 21 days later hatch day arrived – we have four beautiful and healthy chicks who are now about 4 weeks old. Our mama hen is SO happy and so are we. I’m so grateful we found Silver Fox Farm and hope to order from them in the future." -Rochelle Fisher (Seven Pines, VA)
